DT SWISS - 240 DEG DF REAR IS (6-BOLT) HUBS

The patent pending Ratchet DEG System was designed by taking a different angle than the common high engagement freehub systems, to deliver a smaller engagement angle and maximized reliability. The simultaneous full engagement of the ratchets provides a larger contact patch than pawl hubs and thus a more balanced load distribution, resulting in higher reliability. Two enlarged ratchets with 90 teeth offer the smallest engagement angle ever made in the DT Swiss portfolio: 4º. On the trail, this transmits into a different angle in the backlash. The small idle distance at the cranks allows for more direct acceleration, like out of corners, as well as the possibility to adjust the pedal position faster, like when overcoming obstacles on a technical uphill trail.

DF Technology:

An anti-pedal kickback system simplified to the max.

The new DF technology is an anti-pedal kickback device simplified to the max. The DF technology releases the pedal kickback at the point where it occurs: in the freehub. This prevents unwanted chain pull during compression before it reaches the crank via the chain and negatively affects the rider. This results in improved downhill riding behavior with natural feedback from the trail and bike without the influence of unwanted chain pull.

DF = 0°

The engagement angle of the Ratchet DEG hub is main-tained, therefore not affecting the frame's kinematic pedal kickback. The 0° setup could be better suited to a Cross Country practice, where freehub engagement speed is key.

DF = 10°

The freehub system has 10° of freedom to rotate with certainty before engaging, resulting in reduced pedal kickback. The 10° setup could be better suited to an All Mountain practice, where pedal kickback becomes no-ticeable and can be part of the bike setup.

DF = 20°

The freehub system has 20° of freedom to rotate with certainty before engaging, providing the greatest pedal kickback reduction in our system. The 20° setup could be better suited to the Enduro / Downhill practice, where pedal kickback is part of the bike setup.

Optimised hub:
Achieving a different engagement angle from what DT Swiss has done to date required a major adaptation to the drive side of the hub. The Ratchet DEG system and its new hub body allow the installation of size-optimized 90-tooth ratchets.

90T Ratchets:
Made of steel, the DEG ratchets are bigger than all the previous DT Swiss ratchets and aim to transmit the power of even the strongest riders for a long time and across a large contact surface.

Easier Serviceability System:
The innovative construction of the 240 DEG hub allows bearing replacement without special tools.
