Cycling Tom began in 2017 when Tom McCallum, a 16-year-old Wairarapa cyclist, started sharing his journey through elite cycling on YouTube. From racing internationally as part of the Cycling New Zealand development squad to documenting life on two wheels, his channel has grown to over 22,500 subscribers and 5.5 million views.

In 2021, Tom purchased a local bike shop and transformed it into Cycling Tom Bike Shop. The business has since grown into a purpose-built store in Solway, Masterton, offering bikes, workshop services, bike fitting, hire and tours. In 2023, the shop was proud to win the WBS Emerging Award at the Wairarapa Business Awards.

Today, Cycling Tom is deeply ingrained in the Wairarapa community. Alongside The Coffee Ride Café, Tom organises the Wairarapa Gravel Classic and Gravel Series, supports local cycling and is involved in the D!RT Collective. Away from the shop, he enjoys farming and playing rugby for the East Coast Rugby Club.
